Pre Assessment Validation FORM

The CWTS Pre Assessment Validation Form is a fully editable, rebrand-ready form aligned to the Standards for RTOs 2025. Designed for RTO validators, compliance officers, and quality managers responsible for reviewing assessment tools before they are used with students, it provides a structured framework for confirming that assessment instruments are fit for purpose, mapped correctly to the unit of competency, and capable of producing evidence that meets the principles of assessment and rules of evidence before any student is assessed against them.
 
Pre-assessment validation is the quality gate that protects your RTO from the consequences of deploying a flawed assessment tool. An assessment instrument that has not been validated before use may fail to cover the full requirements of the unit of competency, may produce evidence that does not meet the rules of evidence, or may create conditions that are inherently unfair or inaccessible to certain student cohorts. Identifying and correcting these issues before delivery begins is significantly less disruptive and costly than discovering them through post-assessment validation, a student complaint, or an ASQA audit finding about the adequacy of your assessment system.
 
This form provides a consistent, auditable process for pre-assessment validation across all assessment tools used within your scope of registration. It aligns to clauses 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5 of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and was developed in conjunction with the Validation of Assessment Policy Procedure, Validation of Assessment and Risk Register, Post Assessment Validation Form, and Validation of Assessment Guide.
