Student Support Policy Pack

Not every student arrives at your RTO ready to engage with training on equal terms. Life circumstances, language and literacy challenges, disability, work pressures, and personal wellbeing all affect a student's ability to participate fully and achieve competency. RTOs that recognise this and respond with structured, documented support are not only meeting their compliance obligations. They are delivering on the core promise of vocational education.
 
The Standards for RTOs 2025 are clear that student support is not optional and not passive. Your RTO must have systems in place to identify students who may need additional support, connect them with appropriate services, monitor their progress, and adjust delivery where reasonable. Support obligations extend beyond academic assistance to include wellbeing, language literacy and numeracy, and reasonable adjustment in assessment. These are not areas where good intentions are sufficient. ASQA wants to see documented processes, evidence of referrals, and records of action taken.
 
Getting student support right also reduces completion risk. Students who receive timely, appropriate support are more likely to complete their qualification, which protects your RTO's quality indicator data and demonstrates to ASQA that your training outcomes are genuine.
 
This policy pack gives your RTO the documented framework to deliver student support consistently and in a way that is responsive to individual needs. When implemented, it supports compliance with clauses 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, and 2.6 of the Standards for RTOs 2025, as well as the associated Compliance Requirements.
