Business Continuity Plan TEMPLATE

The CWTS Business Continuity Plan is a fully editable, rebrand-ready template aligned to the Standards for RTOs 2025. Designed for RTO owners, executive managers, and compliance officers responsible for governance and risk management, it provides a structured framework for identifying the critical functions of your RTO's operation, assessing the risks that could disrupt them, and documenting the response strategies your organisation will implement to maintain continuity of training and assessment delivery when a significant disruption occurs.
 
Business continuity is a governance obligation that sits at the intersection of your management responsibilities and your duty to enrolled students. When a critical disruption occurs, whether through the loss of a key staff member, a facilities failure, a technology outage, or an unforeseen external event, your RTO's enrolled students retain their right to receive the training they contracted for and to be supported through any disruption to their learning journey. The Standards for RTOs 2025 require that your governance framework includes documented plans for managing operational risk, and ASQA expects to see evidence that your leadership team has actively considered and planned for the scenarios most likely to threaten your RTO's ability to operate. An undocumented or untested business continuity plan provides no protection when a disruption actually occurs.
 
This template provides a comprehensive, structured framework for business continuity planning across all critical functions of your RTO's operation. It aligns to clauses 4.1 and 4.2 of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and was developed in conjunction with the Management and Governance Policy Procedure. It includes the following:

Risk identification and impact assessment fields for key disruption scenarios
Response strategy and recovery action documentation for each identified risk
Key personnel, contacts, and delegated authority fields for continuity response
Student communication and support obligations during disruption section
