UoC Assessment Mapping TEMPLATE

The CWTS Unit of Competency Assessment Mapping Template is a fully editable, rebrand-ready template aligned to the Standards for RTOs 2025. Designed for RTO trainers, assessors, curriculum developers, and compliance officers responsible for developing and reviewing assessment tools, it provides a structured framework for mapping each assessment task and evidence collection method against the full requirements of the unit of competency, confirming that your assessment system covers every element, performance criterion, performance evidence, knowledge evidence, and assessment condition before tools are used with students.
 
Assessment mapping is the technical foundation of a compliant assessment system. An assessment tool that has not been systematically mapped to the unit of competency cannot demonstrate that it covers the full scope of what the unit requires, that the evidence it collects is sufficient to support a valid competency judgement, or that the conditions under which assessment is conducted reflect those specified in the training package. ASQA's review of assessment tools during audit begins with exactly this question, and tools that cannot demonstrate full coverage of the unit requirements are a finding regardless of how well they are written in every other respect. Mapping is also a prerequisite for meaningful pre-assessment validation, as validators cannot assess the adequacy of a tool without a clear record of what it is designed to cover and why.
 
This template provides a consistent, auditable framework for assessment mapping across all units of competency on your scope. It aligns to clauses 1.3 and 1.4 of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and was developed in conjunction with the Validation of Assessment Policy Procedure. It includes the following:
