Session Plan TEMPLATE

The CWTS Session Plan Template is a fully editable, rebrand-ready template aligned to the Standards for RTOs 2025. Designed for RTO trainers, training coordinators, and curriculum developers responsible for planning and preparing training sessions, it provides a structured framework for documenting the learning objectives, content sequence, delivery methods, resources, and timing of each training session in a way that is consistent, auditable, and aligned to the requirements of the unit of competency being delivered.
 
Session planning is the operational link between your Training and Assessment Strategy and what actually happens in the training room, the workplace, or the online learning environment. A TAS that describes your delivery approach at a program level must be translated into session-level planning that gives your trainers a clear, documented guide for how each session will be structured and what it needs to achieve. Without that translation, delivery quality becomes dependent on the individual trainer's interpretation of the requirements rather than a documented, consistent standard your RTO can monitor, review, and improve. ASQA expects to see evidence that training delivery is planned and structured, and session plans are among the most practical forms of that evidence.
 
This template provides a consistent, auditable framework for session planning across all programs, delivery modes, and training environments your RTO uses. It aligns to clause 1.1 of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and was developed in conjunction with the Delivery of Training Policy Procedure and the Learning Program Proposal Form. It includes the following:
 
Session identification, unit of competency, and learning objective fields
Content sequence and timing allocation section
Delivery method and trainer activity documentation fields
Student activity and engagement strategy recording section
Resources, equipment, and facilities requirement fields
