Recognition (RPL) Kit - TEMPLATES

The CWTS Recognition of Prior Learning Kit is a fully editable, rebrand-ready template set aligned to the Standards for RTOs 2025. Designed for RTO trainers, assessors, and compliance officers responsible for developing and implementing RPL assessment pathways, it provides a comprehensive, structured framework for guiding candidates, assessors, and third parties through the evidence collection and review process for each qualification on your scope, ensuring that every RPL assessment is conducted consistently, rigorously, and in full compliance with the principles of assessment and rules of evidence.
 
An RPL Kit is not a simplified version of your standard assessment tools. It is a purpose-built assessment instrument designed to collect evidence of competency from a candidate's existing experience, qualifications, and workplace practice rather than from structured training delivery. The quality of your RPL Kit determines the quality of the competency judgements made through it. A kit that is poorly mapped to the unit of competency requirements, that does not provide candidates with sufficient guidance to identify and present relevant evidence, or that does not give assessors a clear framework for evaluating that evidence against the rules of evidence will produce RPL outcomes that cannot be defended during validation or audit. Every qualification on your scope that is offered to RPL candidates requires its own kit, developed to the full requirements of the current training package version.
 
This template set provides a consistent, auditable framework for RPL kit development across all qualifications on your scope. It aligns to clauses 1.4, 1.6, and 1.7 of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and was developed in conjunction with the Skills Recognition and Credit Policy Procedure. It includes the following:
