Professional development obligations in an RTO context apply to more than just trainers and assessors maintaining their TAE currency. The Standards for RTOs 2025 require that all staff contributing to your RTO's operations engage in ongoing professional development relevant to their role, and that your RTO can demonstrate it is actively supporting and monitoring that development. A CPD Record Book that is completed consistently and reviewed regularly gives your RTO the individual-level evidence it needs to demonstrate trainer and assessor currency during audit, to identify staff whose professional development is falling behind, and to plan the learning and development investments that will strengthen your RTO's compliance and operational capability in the year ahead.
This template provides a consistent, auditable framework for CPD planning and recording across all staff roles in your organisation. It aligns to clauses 3.2 and 3.3 of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and was developed in conjunction with the Professional Development Policy Procedure and the Trainer and Assessor Register. It includes the following:
- Staff identification, role, and reporting period fields
- CPD activity recording section across vocational competency, VET knowledge and practice, competency-based training and assessment, and industry knowledge and skills categories
- Annual CPD points tracking and target fields for each development area
- Evidence of completion and verification recording section
- Professional development plan and upcoming activity scheduling fields
