Conflict of Interest Checklist FORM

The CWTS Conflict of Interest Checklist is a fully editable, rebrand-ready form aligned to the Standards for RTOs 2025. Designed for RTO staff, managers, governance members, and compliance officers responsible for identifying and managing conflicts of interest across your organisation, it provides a structured framework for determining whether a conflict of interest exists, classifying its nature and severity, and establishing the appropriate management response before a compromised decision is made.
 
Identifying a conflict of interest requires more than asking staff whether they have one. People are not always aware that a personal relationship, a financial interest, or a prior association creates a conflict in the context of a specific decision or assessment. A structured checklist approach removes that ambiguity by walking the relevant person through the scenarios most likely to give rise to a conflict in an RTO context, including assessment relationships, procurement decisions, staff management situations, and governance matters. Without this structured process, conflicts that should have been declared and managed instead go unrecognised until they surface as a complaint, an audit finding, or a challenge to the integrity of an assessment outcome.
 
This form provides a consistent, auditable process for conflict of interest identification and classification across all areas of your RTO's operations. It aligns to clause 4.3 of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and was developed in conjunction with the Conflict of Interest Policy Procedure, Conflict of Interest Management Plan Template, and Conflict of Interest Register.
