Workplace Suitability Checklist FORM

The CWTS Workplace Suitability Checklist is a fully editable, rebrand-ready form aligned to the Standards for RTOs 2025. Designed for RTO coordinators, trainers, and compliance officers responsible for managing work placement arrangements, it provides a structured framework for assessing and documenting the suitability of workplace locations before training and assessment delivery begins.
 
Your RTO's compliance obligations do not end at the boundary of your own premises. When students are placed in a workplace for training or assessment purposes, your RTO remains responsible for ensuring that environment meets the requirements of the relevant training product, provides a safe and appropriate learning context, and gives students a genuine opportunity to develop and demonstrate the competencies required. An undocumented or informally assessed workplace placement is a compliance gap that is difficult to defend when an auditor or a student raises a concern about the adequacy of the environment.
 
This checklist provides a consistent, auditable process for workplace suitability assessment across all placement locations your RTO uses. It aligns to clause 1.8 of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and was developed in conjunction with the Facilities, Equipment and Resources Management Policy Procedure, Facilities and Equipment Register, Work Placement Agreement MOU Template, Assessment and Evidence Collection Policy Procedure, and the Industry Engagement Policy Procedure. It includes the following:
 
A structured assessment of workplace environment suitability against training product requirements
Safety and accessibility prompts aligned to WHS obligations
Fields for recording the outcome of the suitability assessment and any conditions or limitations identified
Signature fields for the RTO representative and host employer contact
A review and reassessment record for ongoing placement monitoring
