Conflict of Interest REGISTER
The CWTS Conflict of Interest Register is a fully editable, rebrand-ready register aligned to the Standards for RTOs 2025. Designed for RTO managers, compliance officers, and governance members responsible for overseeing the integrity of your RTO's decision-making processes, it provides a structured framework for recording, tracking, and monitoring every conflict of interest declared within your organisation, ensuring that each declaration is followed by a documented management response and that the register remains a current, auditable record of how your RTO upholds the impartiality its students and stakeholders are entitled to expect.
A conflict of interest that is declared but not recorded in a centralised register provides no organisational visibility and no accountability for the management actions that must follow. Your RTO's leadership needs to be able to see, at any point, what conflicts have been declared across the organisation, how each has been classified, what management strategies are in place, and whether those strategies are being monitored and reviewed. Without that visibility, patterns that might indicate a systemic issue, such as repeated conflicts in a particular assessment context or a governance relationship that consistently creates tension, cannot be identified and addressed before they become a regulatory concern. The Standards for RTOs 2025 require your RTO to demonstrate that conflicts of interest are managed systematically, and the register is the primary evidence document through which that demonstration is made.
This register provides a consistent, auditable framework for conflict of interest tracking and management across all areas of your RTO's operation. It aligns to clause 4.3 of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and was developed in conjunction with the Conflict of Interest Policy Procedure, Conflict of Interest Checklist Form, and Conflict of Interest Management Plan. It includes the following:
- Conflict identification number, date of declaration, and declaring party fields
- Conflict type and classification recording section covering assessment, governance, procurement, and staff management contexts
- Severity rating and management strategy reference fields
- Management plan implementation status and monitoring update section
- Resolution date and outcome recording fields
- Governance review and register sign-off fields for audit trail purposes
